shirtlesspersonaZaveid is a Seraph, which in Zestiria means something completely different from Symphonia's.
Some notes –
-They have no lifespan, but they are able to die to things such as being attacked by hellions.
-They have no need for eating or sleeping, but many of them do it out of habit or as a hobby.
-They are able to create paranormal phenomenon related to their attribute (seraphic artes).
-Their appearance is determined by their mental characteristics, though their hair color shows their attribute. (So some come in animal-forms, like cats or dogs, while most are human-shaped. With a few odd human shapes like DEZEL WHAT IS UP WITH YOUR TEETH)
-They grow at the same rate as humans, however when their power reaches its peak, their growth stops.
-There are seraphim who were born as such, and some who were reincarnated from other creatures. When they’re reincarnated, they lose their memory, though their personality and things they like carry over.
- Seraphim are split into those who live on the surface, and those who live in the heavenly realm. There is no travel between the earth and the heavenly realm because the seraphim groups have a bet going on. for tens of thousands of years. So, despite being one of the seraphim formed on the surface, he will feel vaguely "holy" or "divine".
- Seraphim can 'see the hearts of man', which is most likely intention reading and seeing hellion shapes.
So, Zaveid looks 20-30 or something like that, and has green hair tips. He's pretty old, but not particularly old for his race (about 1600, who keeps track of less than centuries), and he's a wind seraph.
Of course, to even be able to see him, humans require resonance. What this is isn't ever ought right stated, but it allows humans to see seraphim and also hellions – which are what happens when malevolence / impurity binds with just about anything. The only time humans can see the result of malevolence / impurity without resonance is when a seraph becomes so corrupted they turn into a dragon. Otherwise they see anything from a completely normal, if very angry, animal / person, to swirls of dust instead of an angry dragon-type monster or a mob of snakes.
And that whole seeing the hearts of man is said once, but seraphim's default view is that of seeing hellions and the like.
Malevolence usually is extreme negative emotions. Fear, hatred, rage. It also can be an emotion that "consumes" someone. Consumed by revenge, the need to be strong/gain strength, the need to guide people / unify a country. There is a saying in game that "a hero in war is a hellion in life" – that some of the emotions to excel in war run the risk of turning the person into a hellion. Also that battlefields are giant crucibles of malevolence, which then finds anything to bind to and convert. (It should be noted that killing a hellion transfers the malevolence to the killer. Unless a Shepherd or Zaveid's Seigfreid is involved-)
Because... there's a thing called "playing someone who is invisible would get boring after too long"no it wouldn't, Zaveid is trash party dad, he'd be a litt- giant shit, I'm offering variations! Full invisible, ghostly, or full visible. Staying around seraphim for longer will slowly upgrade their visibility. There is a fourth option, hear but not see, between ghostly and full invisible, that's part of a sad side-quest. For people who want voices.
In canon, there is cameo battles and this is how Sophie of (Tales of) Graces saw the party. She couldn't hear them, while Jade Curtiss of (Tales of the) Abyss could see AND hear them, if that helps you decide your characters 'resonance' levels.
In some promotional arte, Mikleo did not appear on a digital camera, despite clearly being there based on where everyone was on stage.

How well: Someone Invisible Is Touching Me / Oh No Not Voices / Why Is There A Shirtless Ghost / Zaveid Aren't You Cold (full visible). Remember, you can pick an earlier one and slowly upgrade to more visibility.
Why: In tune with magic? In tune with nature? A supernatural being already? Count as a hellion (high level of malevolence)? It's confirmed that they won't show up in digital cameras, so explain the why of tech really well- (but they are physically there, so.. noticing disruptions of air currents / weight would be possible. Extra wind disruptions because he's a windy one.)
Does your character have 'malevolence/impurity'? "Negative spiritual energy" is another good way to put it. THINGS THAT ARE CAN GENERATE MALEVOLENCE: consumed by desire for revenge, the fear and anger and all those negative emotions that a war can generate, Guilt can lead to it. IT REALLY.. SEEMS TO DEPEND ON THE CHARACTER. Like, there's guys who are IT ISN'T WRONG TO KILL CHILDREN SO I CAN HAVE ART AND NOT DEVALUE IT BY PAYING FOR IT!!! and he wasn't malevolent. so. THANKS BAMCO

Does your character have 'malevolence/impurity'? Oh boy. Given that he's from Pokemon Y, not Pokemon X, I'm going to say 'yes' - Yveltal absorbs life energy which is what he used in the machine and what probably leaked everywhere when the weapon exploded.

Why: Steven is half-human, half-magic (magic alien rock?? cartoons are weird). He deals with a lot of that biz.
Does your character have 'malevolence/impurity'? I don't think so? If he's ever consumed by a drive or a negative emotion, it's usually a really temporary thing. We could work that out case-by-case if need be?
And as a note, I'm willing to change this up any way that you think works best! I'm completely canonblind as far as Zaveid is concerned, so I'm not sure what might fly. Anything is fine by me!

But I agree that Steven probably is like. A tiny pink cinnamon roll.

How well: Shirtless Ghost, more or less... Except when using Detect Magic, at which point she'd see him fully.
Why: Gynoid Support Unit 24 has some inherent magic from her abilities; Detect Magic lets her see auras a lot more precisely. As he's not a magic item, Identify does nothing special.
Malevolence?: Possibly. S24 would have a strong sense of having been exposed to a massive amount of some sort of corrupt energy at some point, which did something to her - however, there isn't any current active such energy on her, and her magics mostly deal in positive energy (in the D&D definition of the word - i.e. healing).

How well: Someone Invisible Is Touching Me - Why Is There A Shirtless Ghost if using the right equipment.
Why: Rita's got a lot of magical skill and is functionally in tune with aether under certain contexts. Her equipment might let her detect Zaveid more precisely.

How well: Full Visible
Why: Pascal's techniques aren't magic, but she has bindings to three summon spirits from her world, and thus has a surprisingly strong natural sense for abnormalities.

Why: Ammy is a goddess. She is both in tune with spirits, nature, and can sense the "aura" of something very well. She has been seen to view ghosts and evil spirits in her game canon with perfect clarity as well. She's also not fooled by outward appearances and masks. Not easily, anyway, as is the case with someone deceitful in her game canon.
Does your character have 'malevolence/impurity'?: Not much, no. This is a tricky question because Ammy represents light and goodness, but she also signifies balance and the peace of world...which cannot exist without the presence of darkness. So, that being said, she is mostly a pure spirit, but not a perfect being of light. She has her own bit of darkness in her, but it probably wouldn't weird Zaveid out much at all.

Why: Being half demon means he can see, hear and to a certain extent understand most things of a supernatural or animal nature. Seraphim do exist in Rin's world but are very inhuman in their form, so the difference will make it so that Zaveid won't look completely normal to Rin.
Does your character have 'malevolence/impurity'? WELL UH HE IS A HALF DEMON. But he's also not possessed, he's literally half-blooded (born of a human mother and a demon father) and he's gone to great lengths to deal with his temper issues, anger and overall negative feelings. They still exist, but he's not like oozing negativity or anything. That said Zaveid should probably be careful around him when he's "gone demon" because a lot of that power does stem from being the direct blood relation of the King of Gehenna himself.

Does your character have 'malevolence/impurity'? He's not what I'd call a great paragon of virtue or anything. He isn't malevolent by any definition, though, he likes taking it easy and getting along to go along. In fact, he pretty much flies right under the proverbial radar and likes it that way.
He is, however, extremely depressed (and hides it with the expertise of long practice). If by 'negative spiritual energy' you mean also things like his overall emotional/mental wellbeing that is another can of worms entirely.

YES AND NO? Frisk is kind of complicated in that they themself have no LOVE - defined in their canon as "Level of Violence" - so they're a very sweet, tender soul who would never hurt a fly and legitimately does not have the capacity to hate. However, a tiny fraction of their soul is held together by a literal demon who once... possessed them and cut a murderous path through an entire civilization. So uh. Yeah, that thing is still hanging around. Frisk Fixed It with time travel, but there's also the lingering emotional baggage that comes from experiencing that timeline. I'm pretty familiar with Zestiria and I wouldn't put it anywhere near Hellion levels of malice, though. Maybe more of just a vague "omg this kid has deep-seated issues" vibe?
ALSO in that vein, I would guess that this demon would be able to sense seraphim even if Frisk can't, so they'd get a sense of some kind of presence around them even if they can't see or hear Zaveid at all.

Why: Spirituality and bending are directly linked in Avatar, firebending is literally bending your own chi, and Zuko has learned the purest form of the art from dragons. But, she hasn't had much contact with actual spirits.
Does your character have 'malevolence/impurity'? Uhh, well she dislikes violence BUT she also has an enormous guilt complex and used to have a horrible temper. So generally she's probably okay-ish but prone to flare-ups of negative feels.

Why: For all that he looks like a hunk of technology inside Mettaton is a pure spirit. He was a ghost type monster who chose to become corporal with the help of Alphys so that he could become a star.

How well: Aren't You Cold?
Why: Lambda is sort of a being from within the Lestalia of Fodra, he is in fact a being of energy fixed within a mechanical body.
Does your character have 'malevolence/impurity'? Not originally, however his fear could be twisted into something rather dark and in fact does because of Cornell's death, Emeraude being a bitch, and the villagers trying to run him off and attacking him shortly after landing on Ephinea.

How well: Hazzy but still there
Why: Ryuji is a half demon, not only that he is kin to the second most powerful demon. Basically only second to Rin's "daddy". Lucifer is strong and he is under his family. Maybe not his son but at least his grandson....it's complicated.
Does your character have 'malevolence/impurity'? Well demon? Just because he's a light demon doesn't mean he's purely good. But let's be real here....the boy was raised a monk and meditates every day. No he has no malevolence or impurity....he may look like a punk but he is 100% good guy.

Meaning Norma will see him only in rare instances and when she does he'll look like a ghost - see through and with a strange magical presence.
Why: She's highly in tune with magic and her canon is based around a sort of spirituality with an ocean deity. Norma is aware of ghosts and other forms of life like spirits and such, but it's not a deep, manifested belief. She really just believes what she's experienced herself, so she will see him, but not fully and not always.

She actually has a lot of guilt and sadness for having to see people and friends die or kill people herself for the sake of a stupid racial war (because let's be honest, that's kind of what Legendia, and many other Tales game center around). She never wanted to, but she had no choice. It was that or let every person who dwells on the land be killed. Innocent people that don't have anything to do with the squabbling. It still weighs heavy on her heart, and though Norma smiles and keeps moving on, it's there. She's also feeling extremely lonely without her network of friends from home to confide in and to support her. So that anxiety is slowly building until her CR in Sol kinda picks her back up.
She won't be hellion level, but Saveid will definitely be able to sense there's malevolence there, maybe a notch above what's normal I guess?? IDK. STUFF.

Why: Mutsuki has been possessed by an Undead - basically a monster that represents a certain species of creature and is trying to fight for domination. He's not possessed anymore, but he seems to be somewhat in tune with what an Undead can feel even when they're sealed. Residual things from Spider Undead? Natural ability to sense things? Canon's not clear.
Does your character have 'malevolence/impurity'?: Given the above, possibly lingering bits of it from the Spider Undead (and Zaveid could probably feel it from his cards, too), but on his own... he has a lot of guilt from what he did, he's still working off the fear from the whole 'the world almost ended' thing... yeah.

How well? They'll probably appear somewhat ghostly, but she will be able to see them.
Why? Semi-supernatural being in her own right, the Traveler's light within her gives her a great deal of extra sensory ability.
Does your character have malevolence? A little, yes. Katherine is a hardened soldier, and she's killed more enemies in a year than many battle hardened veterans will kill in a life time. She is a remorseless sniper when she has to be.
Ashton Anchors, Gyoro, and Ururun
Can your character see Seraphim/Hellion forms? Ashton can't, but Gyoro and Ururun can. Funny how that works, huh?
How well? Ashton can't see shit, but Gyoro and Ururun will be able to see him clear as day.
Why? They're pretty old dragons.
Does your character have malevolence? Nope, they're all pretty chill, even Ururun who is the most hot-blooded and headstrong of the trio.

Date: 2016-04-20 12:08 am (UTC)How well: It's going to fluctuate, but mostly she'll see Zaveid as being see through or whole on occasion (he former will delight her more, jsyk). Full invisible will be rare, but not impossible.
Why: I actually headcanon Perona as having a high spiritual affinity and being able to sense paranormal activity on account of her powers are to create and control ghosts from her body and to remove her own spirit from her body as well. Another headcanon I have is that she can also sense when someone around her is invisible. She can't see them, or tell exactly where they are, but with enough concentration, she can pinpoint where they are if they're standing still. In canon, she had a crewmate who could turn invisible, so I again headcanon she'd used to picking up signs that someone's skulking about. Sound and differences in the scenery, she's got a good eye.
Does your character have 'malevolence/impurity'? Hoo boy...now that I know the canon, I can answer this with clarity - not much. A lot of what she does she does knowing full well the consequence and that it's a 'bad' thing. She accepts that aspect of her life. By being a pirate, she knows and accepts that the things she does will always be skewed, but she doesn't mind. Perona is what she is and she doesn't regret her choices. So, while she may have some malevolence because she has indeed killed and some some not nice crap in the past, it's no where near the point of her being or becoming a hellion.

UM CAN IT FLUCTUATE? sometimes she has more guilt than one small girl should be able to hold and sometimes she can get overwhelmed with being humanity's target practice for self-hatred and suicidal ideation. But 90% of the time she's perky as you please.

Why: Between his Persona and all the shit that happened in the Tower, he's had a lot of experience with magic and psychic stuff, so yeah.
Does your character have 'malevolence/impurity'?: ... Yes. Not so much the revenge thing anymore, but fear and anger from being put through horrible things, very much yes. He's kind of messed up by everything, though he tries to hide it.
